The “Jewelburg State Hospital” opened in the 1930’s in order to relieve overcrowding in other psychiatric hospitals at the time. The hospital continued to operate as more patients began flooding the walls of the facility, and electroshock therapy, lobotomies, hydrotherapy, and more treatments of the era were used. Like many other mental institutions, this hospital saw a rapid decline in patients in its later days due to the rise of psychotropic drugs such as thorazine. From the 1970’s to the 1990's, many buildings on campus were shutting down, and being left abandoned. To this day, the facility continues to operate under modern day treatment plans, while a handful of buildings still remain abandoned.

note: I gave this album an alias name to protect the property from any vandalism, and out of respect for the patients and staff who still live/ work on the grounds.
